A FREE BILINGUAL AUTHORIZATION PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY
The Growing en comunidad Project is a joint collaboration among three departments at UC Merced (Teacher Preparation Program, Cognitive and Information Sciences, and the Literatures, Languages, and Cultures). This project supports bilingual educators in their professional development towards credential requirements through subsidizing related costs to earning a Bilingual Added Authorization.
RECEIVE FUNDING TO EARN YOUR BILINGUAL AUTHORIZATION IN SPANISH, including:
- Course fees and materials for EDUC X310 and EDUC X430 ($1,190 plus)
- CSET Exam Fees Reimbursement ($99-$297)
- CABE Conference Participation ($920)
- Bilingual Authorization Program Application Fee Reimbursement ($100)
A total value of over $2,407!!!
ELIGIBILITY FOR FUNDING
ELIGIBILITY FOR FUNDING
- Credentialed teacher seeking a bilingual authorization, OR
- Pre-service teacher candidate working on bilingual authorization, AND
- Must be working (or seeking employment) with bilingual learners receiving bilingual education services.
- Actively enrolled, successfully complete coursework, or application on file for the Bilingual Authorization program at UC Merced Extension Teacher Preparation Program.
ABOUT BILINGUAL AUTHORIZATION IN SPANISH INFORMATION
- EDUC X310: Bilingual & Bicultural Teaching (3 units)
- EDUC X430: Historical and Sociocultural Overview of the Spanish Fluent World (3 units)
- 20 Hours of Bilingual Field Experience (required for BLA Certification): Can be met in one or multiple ways. Please check in with the Course Instructor for details. Admission must be granted to speak with the instructor.
- CSET Spanish Subtest III (Exam 147)
